Choose your fabric – something soft and washable is best
Choosing the fabric for baby’s sleeping spot is a seemingly daunting task, but fortunately, baby doesn’t know what they’re missing. From minky to natural linens or cottons and everything in between, baby safe fabrics are everywhere! The best thing about baby safe fabrics is that softness and washability are key so baby can lay their head down at night feeling comfortable, secure, and fresh. Making sure baby has something soothing and baby safe against their skin helps them slumber peacefully. So don’t be afraid of making decisions over fabric – it’s all baby-approved! You can choose several coordinating fabrics (organic, OEKO-TEX quilting cottons are some of my favorites for baby) that match the design and mood you are going for in your nursery.

Fill the baby nest with soft filling
DIY projects for babies can be a great way to get creative and show off your crafty abilities! Why not surprise the little one with their very own DIY Montessori baby sleeping nest at the baby shower, complete with soft and fluffy filling? There are several options for filling. Most common is a polyester fibrefill (most common in cheap pillows), though Montessori suggests natural materials, such as cotton or wool, which can be used as a filling. Though more expensive the natural fillings have a great breathability and wool. Once you fill the nest with a thick layer of fluffiness, your baby will have a cozy spot to snuggle in while they drift off into sweet dreams.
